Holy Monday
Mt. 24:3-35
The Lord is going to willful passions; we ought to follow Him. This is a duty of anyone who owes his present being to the power of Christ’s passion, of anyone who hopes to attain through them to something so great and glorious that it cannot be imagined by mere human mind.
How, then, should we follow Him? By our comprehension and compassion. Let us follow the suffering Lord in our mind and reflect on realities which would warm our hearts and move them towards compassion, that is, make them comprehend the suffering of our Lord. To this end, we ought to take on certain degree of suffering ourselves, through substantial reduction of food and sleep, through the increase in the extent of our standing upright and intensity of our prostrations.
Follow the rites and rules established by the Church for these days of the Holy Week, and you will be a good sojourner of the Lord on His way to passions.
