No Liturgy ─ no New Testament reading appointed
“Hell and destruction are before the Lord: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?” [Pr. 15:11] ─ and a sinner imagines that no one can see him, assuming that he can hide under the cover of night or in a desert place.
God’s eyes have seen everything; your guardian angel and your consciousness are the witness. At some time in the future you will be standing before the Judgment: everything once concealed will be open, reliable witnesses will be present, you will be silent, and the verdict will be final.
There is only one way to prevent this inevitability: repentance. The door to repentance is open. Hasten to enter, before it is too late: you cannot tell when the hour strikes ─ but when it strikes, that will be the end both of your sin and of any hope for clemency.
