Acts 4:23-31; Jn. 5:24-30
“And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation” [Jn. 5:29]. That’s how it is all going to end! Just as rivers flow, each one into its own sea, so also the flow of our lives finally comes to a place according to the character of each one. Those who will be risen unto life, will be present at the judgment to witness their acquittal and destination for the eternal life; others, however, will be risen only to hear the sentence of the eternal death.
Both kinds of men are manifest even now ─ for the former are doing works of life, while the latter ─ works of death. Works of life are being done by Lord’s commandments, with the joy of the spirit, for the glory of God; works of death are being done in oblivion of God, contrary to His commandments, to please oneself and one’s own passions. Works of death might even formally agree with the commandments, but they are done with no regard of God, out of selfishness in various shapes and forms.
God is life; only that is alive where He is present. So, those who have nothing but works of death are heading straight towards death and on the last day will be sentenced to death ─ while those who have works of life are proceeding towards life and will eventually receive it.
