Military personnel of the 11th Separate Guards Airborne Assault Brigade of the Dnepr Group of Forces opened an underground Orthodox church in honor of Elijah the Prophet in the special military operation zone. This was reported to TASS by the assistant commander of the brigade for work with believers, Priest Father Maxim.
"We celebrated a prayer service in the new field church in honor of the prophet of God Elijah, which was just built, just done. We still don't have such a large capacity, but nevertheless, in the future we will improve our church and fully conduct divine services with our servicemen, perform prayer services, liturgies, confess and receive communion," he said.
The priest noted that Elijah the Prophet is the heavenly patron saint of the Airborne Troops. According to him, the field church has not yet been consecrated, but it already hosts some types of worship services.
"In our church there are relics of the holy warrior the Great Martyr Fyodor Stratelates, the heavenly patron saint of warriors, to whom we pray, venerate and perform prayer services," Father Maxim emphasized.
