This week, various dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church celebrated the Baptism of Rus'. On July 28, a solemn prayer service was held at the monument to Prince Vladimir the Great on Borovitskaya Square in Moscow. Patriarch Kirill addressed the participants, urging them to preserve Russia's Christian identity. In honor of this occasion, the Patriarch served a liturgy at the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in St. Petersburg. The relics of Prince Alexander Nevsky, housed in the Lavra’s main cathedral, were relocated to their historical silver reliquary from the Hermitage. Russian President Vladimir Putin attended the service and was awarded the Order of Alexander Nevsky I degree by the Patriarch.

The international Orthodox community expressed outrage over a parody of Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper," which depicted Christ and His apostles as transvestites. The Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church called the scandalous ceremony an "insult to Christians." The head of the Greek Orthodox Church condemned the ceremony as "despicable," while Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople labeled it an offense to all civilized people, not just believers. The Russian Church described the performance as "cultural-historical suicide" and "public mockery of Christianity."

Romania is preparing for the canonization of 20th-century saints. This week saw the unveiling of the relics of Saint Dumitru Staniloae and Elder Sofian Anfimsky. Although their glorification will take place in 2025, the preparation of their relics requires time, so the holy remains have already been exhumed. They will be placed in silver reliquaries currently being crafted in Bucharest church workshops.

The Estonian Ministry of the Interior continues to push for amendments to the charter of the Estonian Orthodox Church. On July 30, further negotiations took place with government representatives and lawyers. The Estonian Orthodox Church later indicated that amendments are likely to be made, but it does not plan to merge with the Constantinople Patriarchate. Previously, the Ministry had suggested merging the Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate with the Estonian Apostolic Orthodox Church under the jurisdiction of the Constantinople Patriarchate.

The Albanian Orthodox Church expressed disagreement with the 2023 census results, which reported a decrease of 15,347 people identifying as Orthodox Christians since 2011. The Holy Synod argues that the percentage of Orthodox Christians does not reflect reality, as many believers were not surveyed, and in many cases, registrars did not ask respondents about their religious affiliation.

The Georgian Patriarchate has called on the Azerbaijani authorities to allow regular services at the Church of St. George in Kurmukhi, located in the historical region of Ereti. This ancient church, situated in a region inhabited by Georgian Ingilos, currently hosts services only twice a year. A recent music video filmed at the church by an Azerbaijani musician, which featured him performing on the solea, has sparked controversy. The Georgian Patriarchate emphasizes that resuming regular services will protect the church from desecration.

The Russian Church is actively helping those affected by natural disasters and accidents this week. The clergy of the Karelian Metropolis are aiding those impacted by a dam breach on the White Sea Canal, which destroyed 13 homes. The Chelyabinsk Metropolis has promised assistance to those affected by flooding at the Kialim Reservoir, where a dam breach led to the flooding of a settlement and the declaration of a state of emergency. In the Volgograd Diocese, the church is helping those injured in a train crash, with priests visiting the injured in hospitals. The Nizhny Tagil Diocese is assisting those affected by a gas explosion that caused the collapse of two entrances of a five-story building, injuring more than 15 people and resulting in two fatalities. The diocese has organized the collection of warm clothing and essential items for the victims.
