On April 15, 2024, Metropolitan Isidore of Smolensk and Dorogobuzhsky led a prayer stand for the servicemen of the Federal Service of the National Guard of the Russian Federation (Rosgvardiya) who are in the zone of a special military operation in the Assumption Cathedral of the city of Smolensk.
The service was attended by employees and military personnel of the Rosgvardiya Directorate for the Smolensk region, military personnel of the OMON and SOBR troops of the Rosgvardiya Smolensk region, a separate special purpose detachment "Mercury" of the Central District of the Rosgvardiya, as well as the trustee of the museum of Tsar Nicholas II S.S. Reprintsev, parishioners of the Assumption Cathedral.
At the end of the prayer service, Metropolitan Isidore addressed the participants of the divine service with an archpastoral address.
In response, Priest Roman Bogdasarov thanked Metropolitan Isidore and presented His Eminence with the jubilee medal of the Imperial Orthodox Palestinian Society in memory of Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich Romanov and the commemorative pennant of the Moscow OMON of the State Guard of Russia.
The participants of the prayer stand venerated the revered shrine — the sandals of the holy warrior Mercury of Smolensk, the patron saint of the city of Smolensk and the entire Russian army.
"Lenten prayer stand for the soldiers of the Rosgvardiya" is a spiritual and educational event, within the framework of which it is planned to visit the shrines of Orthodoxy and recite prayers for salvation, help and granting victory to the Russian army and servicemen of the Rosgvardiya during the four weeks of Lent in 2024. The prayer service is carried out within the framework of the activities provided for by the Agreement on Cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops.
