Viewers of the Orthodox TV channel Soyuz were the first to see the new documentary film "St. Tikhon, Patriarch of All Russia", dedicated to the 100th anniversary of his blessed repose and the 160th anniversary of the birth of Patriarch Tikhon of Moscow and All Russia (1865-1925).
The film, created by the Faces of Russia studio with the help of viewers of the Soyuz TV channel with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund, tells about the life path, the confessional feat of the first Patriarch in modern history, as well as his glorification and modern veneration. The experts are His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, His Beatitude Tikhon, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, hierarchs, clergy and historians. Filming took place in the Pskov, Tver and Yaroslavl regions, Ivanovo, Kaluga, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Belarus, Lithuania, Poland and the USA: in places related to the life of St. Tikhon. The language of documentary films has allowed even those who are well acquainted with the life and legacy of Patriarch Tikhon to rediscover his surprisingly deep image.
The film shows for the first time unique documents from Russian archives, for the first time a video recording of the historical moment of the finding of Patriarch Tikhon's holy relics on February 22, 1992, was made public, and for the first time a newsreel of the Primate's divine services on June 28 and July 1, 1923, was presented on television. The participants of the film, who were baptized or tonsured as monks and received a name in honor of the holy Patriarch, share their personal experience of the prayerful intercession of St. Tikhon.
The premiere of the new documentary also took place on the St. Petersburg and Tverskaya Prospekt TV channels. In the near future, the film will be shown on regional TV channels in Sevastopol and the Yaroslavl region.
