A statue of St. Andrew the First-Called was consecrated near the under-construction Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the Kostroma River embankment. The church is being erected on the site of a 17th-century church that was lost and will serve as a naval memorial, honoring Kostroma’s seafarers and naval commanders.  

The Apostle Andrew, regarded as the patron saint of the Russian Navy, symbolizes spiritual support and the revival of Kostroma's maritime traditions. According to the diocese's announcement, a chapel dedicated to the Apostle Andrew is planned within the church. The parish brotherhood also intends to create a surrounding memorial with plaques inscribed with the names of distinguished admirals and sailors from Kostroma.  

The consecration of the monument was performed by Metropolitan Ferapont of Kostroma and Nerekhta on January 19, the feast of Theophany. The ceremony was attended by parishioners, local government officials, and members of the Kostroma Naval Assembly. Metropolitan Ferapont commended the parish brotherhood's efforts to revive the church, which once graced the city in the 17th century.  

The church rector, Archpriest Dmitry Sazonov, who also serves as the chairman of the Kostroma branch of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, highlighted the sense of divine blessing and providence in the restoration of this holy site. He expressed hope that the image of the Apostle Andrew would inspire all who pass by the church to seek his intercession and spiritual assistance. He also envisioned the monument as a means of rejuvenating the proud traditions of Kostroma's seafarers.
