His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his condolences to the families and friends of those killed and injured as a result of the shelling of Sevastopol, to the Governor of Sevastopol M.V. Razvozhaev in connection with the shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as a result of which many people were killed and injured.
"I took the news of the attack on civilians, including children, vacationing in Sevastopol with great sorrow.
The cold—blooded cruelty and astounding cynicism of the perpetrators of the terrorist act, who timed it to coincide with the great Orthodox holiday - the day of the Holy Trinity, once again testify to the abyss of spiritual and moral decline of the perpetrators and customers of the crime, for whom nothing is truly sacred.
I hope that the city's leadership, as well as representatives of federal authorities, will provide the necessary assistance to the families of the dead and injured. For their part, representatives of the Simferopol Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church will make the necessary efforts to provide spiritual support to all those in need of comfort during this difficult time.
May the Merciful Lord rest the souls of the innocently murdered, heal the wounded and strengthen the hands of doctors who are now fighting for the lives of the victims."
The Patriarch also expressed condolences to Tikhon, Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimea. The appeal, in particular, says: "I took the news of the shelling of Sevastopol by the Armed Forces of Ukraine with deep heartache, as a result of which many people were killed and injured.
A missile attack on civilians can have no justification and deserves the strongest condemnation. Special sorrow and indignation is caused by the fact that the holy day of the feast of Pentecost was chosen for the attack.
I pray to the All-merciful God for the repose of the souls of the slain, the speedy healing of the wounded and the consolation of the grieving. I call on the clergy of the Simferopol Diocese to provide the necessary pastoral support to those affected by the crime.
May the Lord of life and death, our Lord Jesus Christ, rest the souls of His newly departed slaves in a place of light, in a place of gold, in a place of rest, far from sickness, sorrow and sighing, and grant the victims and loved ones of the deceased courage and strength of strength to endure the ordeal that has befallen them."
