His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his condolences in connection with the loss of life as a result of landslides in the Indian state of Kerala.
The message, in particular, says: "I was saddened to learn about the tragedy that occurred in Kerala. As a result of the terrible landslides that hit these areas, hundreds of people were killed and injured, many were homeless.
Sincerely empathizing with the grief that the people of India and the children of the Malankara Church are going through today, I ask you to convey words of deep sympathy and support to those who have been affected by a great disaster.
I pray that the Merciful Lord, who comforts us in all our sorrows (2 Corinthians 1.4), will grant courage to the families of the victims and strengthen the strength of the victims, send His help to the military, rescuers and doctors – all those involved in search operations these days and struggling to overcome the consequences of a large-scale natural disaster."
