Pope Tawadros II, head of the Coptic Orthodox Church, called on believers to become bearers of hope in a world marked by crises and conflict in his Easter message.
The Coptic Church, one of the oldest Christian communities tracing its origins to Saint Mark the Evangelist, celebrated Easter on April 12 this year, alongside several other Eastern Christian traditions.
In his address, Tawadros II emphasized that the Resurrection of Christ stands at the core of Christian faith and remains a vital source of hope for humanity. He noted that in a time of wars and troubling global developments, the need for hope is especially urgent.
The Patriarch outlined three key callings for Christians: to carry hope within themselves, to create hope in their surroundings, and to share it with others. He stressed that faith should be visible in everyday life through words, actions, and attitudes toward others.
“The world today needs hope,” he said, encouraging believers to support those around them through kindness, compassion, and acts of love.
According to Tawadros II, even small gestures—helping a neighbor, caring for family members, or offering support during difficult moments—can become powerful sources of hope. He also urged Christians to share the joy of Easter with others by spreading the message of Christ’s Resurrection.
Concluding his message, the Patriarch expressed his wish for peace and an end to wars, calling on the faithful to pray for harmony among nations and wisdom for world leaders.
