At the TASS press center within the framework of the Ethics Forum in the field of Artificial Intelligence "Generation GPT: Red Lines" On November 16, 2023, a round table "An intercultural view of the global challenges of the development of artificial intelligence" was held. The main organizer of the forum was the National Center for the Development of Artificial Intelligence under the Government of the Russian Federation.
Opening the event, the director of the center S.Y. Nakvasin noted that the answer to the challenges of the development of artificial intelligence can be found in the rich Russian culture: "our country has a multinational culture and this is an advantage of Russia, which will undoubtedly overcome the challenges associated with the development and implementation of artificial intelligence."
The importance and necessity of intercultural dialogue in the work of the Commission on the Implementation of the Code of Ethics in the Field of Artificial Intelligence of the Alliance in the field of Artificial Intelligence was stated by its Chairman A.V. Neznamov.
Several general questions were asked to each participant. V.R. Legoyda, answering the question about the risks to society posed by the development of artificial intelligence and the penetration of artificial intelligence and neural networks into the life of the Church, mentioned that His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia had previously answered similar questions during a meeting with participants of the International Festival "Faith and the word". V.R. Legoyda noted that science itself is beyond morality, but it has an ethical dimension when a researcher seeks to obtain data or apply the data obtained.
"It all depends on what we do. Not from the scientific product itself, but from how we use it: if we use it for good, then there are no questions here, if we use it not for good, then it is impossible to support it," said the speaker. V.R. Legoyda noted that the issue of the anthropological impact of artificial intelligence is philosophical and it goes beyond the actual technological results.
To the question of A.V. Neznamov about how much religion wants and can interfere in the formation of the culture of using artificial intelligence, V.R. Legoyda replied that the vector of interest of any religion, according to the definition of philosopher P.P. Gaidenko, is a "breakthrough to the transcendent", going beyond the boundaries of the empirical world. According to the speaker, the center and the main problem of religion is the theme of salvation, which is not accomplished in space and by means of culture. "Without having culture as its goal, religion defines it ultimatum, because a culture that has broken away from religious roots sooner or later comes to a dead end," concluded V.R. Legoyda.
The First International Forum "Ethics of Artificial Intelligence: the Beginning of Trust" was held in 2021, where the Code of Ethics in the field of Artificial Intelligence was presented — a recommendation document establishing ethical principles and standards that should guide participants in relations in the field of artificial intelligence.
