His Holiness Patriarch Porfiry of Serbia visited the Donskoy Stavropol Monastery in Moscow on April 23. His Holiness was accompanied by members of the delegation of the Serbian Orthodox Church who arrived in Moscow.
His Holiness Patriarch Porfiry was met by the chairman of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism, the governor of the Donskoy Monastery, Metropolitan Feognost of Kashira, and the brethren of the monastery.
In the Great Cathedral of the monastery, the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church offered up a prayer and worshiped the relics of St. Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow.
Metropolitan Theognost then addressed His Holiness Patriarch Porfiry: "I am glad to welcome you here, at our shrines – the Donskoy Icon of the Mother of God and the relics of St. Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia. Patriarch Tikhon lived in a very difficult and difficult time, but he persevered, did not flinch, and we feel the light of his life and his prayer today. We believe that through his prayers, the Lord will give you the strength to carry the difficult and difficult cross in our difficult times. Christ is Risen!"
In response, Patriarch Porfiry expressed his joy at the opportunity to visit the Donskoy Monastery and venerate the relics of St. Patriarch Tikhon. "God grant that we have patience, humility, and above all, love for the Lord and love between us. So that we may live according to God's commandments, and the Lord will be with us all through the prayers of Saint Tikhon," His Holiness said in particular.
"May the Lord grant, through the prayer of Saint Tikhon, that the Russian and Serbian Orthodox Churches may be one Church, because this concerns the essence of the Church – it is the Body of Christ, and it is one. In this unity in Christ, the Russian people and the Serbian people are always one people," Patriarch Porfiry testified.
Then the Patriarch and his entourage visited the memorial museum of St. Tikhon in the Donskoy Monastery. Metropolitan Theognost of Kashira gave explanations to His Holiness Patriarch Porfiry during his visit to the museum.
