On December 4, a meeting "In Memory of Mikhail Tversky" was held in the multimedia historical park "Russia – My Story" in Tver, where schoolchildren and students were told about the heavenly patrons of the Tver land.
On December 5, the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the memorial day of the Holy Prince Mikhail Yaroslavich of Tver. On the eve of the memorable date, schoolchildren and students from various educational institutions of Tver gathered in the Tver park "Russia is My Story" to talk about one of the historical figures of Medieval Russia who made a huge contribution to the history of the Upper Volga region.
The audience was addressed by the candidate of Philological sciences, the head of the "Society of Prince of Tver and Grand Duke of All Russia Mikhail Yaroslavich", the author of the project and the almanac "Mikhail Tverskoy. The way home" by Angelika Yanchevskaya. She shared interesting facts about Mikhail Tversky's connection with various regions of Russia, in particular, with North Ossetia, as well as with Abkhazia, Belarus and Georgia.
Angelika Yanchevskaya also explained why Mikhail Tversky is considered a prayer book for Russia, for the Royal House of Romanov and the Russian military brotherhood, is glorified as the patron saint of the North Caucasus, Kalmykia and Tatarstan, and is honored as the epic hero of Ingushetia.
In addition, the participants of the meeting watched the documentary "The Trail of Mikhail. Budennovsk – Tver" about the connection between the city in Stavropol and the capital of the Upper Volga region through the story of Mikhail Tversky. This film was created in 2018 as part of the celebration of the 700th anniversary of the repose of the holy Prince.
Speaking about the significance of the meeting dedicated to the memorial day of the Holy Prince Mikhail Tversky, Angelika Yanchevskaya noted that "it is impossible to build our future without knowing our past, because the past is both an experience of mistakes and examples of heroism that always inspire us to move forward."
"When we tell the younger generation, who will shape the future, about the story of Mikhail Tversky, we share stories about heroic events and self-sacrifice. This is a story about how a person can make a decision and sacrifice his life for the sake of his loved ones and his country. It is no coincidence that Karamzin called Mikhail Tversky a fatherland lover, and his feat was a feat of fatherland. This is a very important moment, because the past inspires us for future exploits, whether military, scientific or other achievements. The future of our country is built on these experiences and values, and they serve as a solid foundation for new achievements," the historian noted.
