On September 8, 2025, a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Jerusalem Orthodox Church was held in Jerusalem, chaired by His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III. The archpastors addressed issues concerning the administrative and pastoral life of the Patriarchate, its monasteries, churches, and clergy, as reported by the Jerusalem Patriarchate's website.

Particular attention was given to the situation in the area of the holy sites, where security measures have limited the number of pilgrims and worshippers in recent months. Despite this, celebrations, including the Dormition of the Theotokos, were conducted in full accordance with the ancient Jerusalem rite. The Patriarch and the bishops offered prayers for peace in the Holy Land and throughout the world.

The Synod honored the memory of the recently departed Archimandrite Innocent, who left a significant spiritual and cultural legacy in the Jordanian city of Madaba. In his honor, the Patriarchal School in Madaba will be named the "Archimandrite Innocent School," and a commemorative plaque will be installed in the city. Metropolitan Christophoros of Jordan noted that the pastoral ministry of Archimandrite Innocent was significant not only for the Orthodox community but also for the entire Jordanian society; a street in Madaba will also be named after him.

Additionally, a donation of $25,000 from Bishop Peter Eaton of the Episcopal Church in the USA was announced for the needs of St. Porphyrius Church in Gaza. Patriarch Theophilos accepted this assistance as a sign of brotherly solidarity and friendship between the Churches, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of his election to the Jerusalem Patriarchal throne.

The Synod received a report on the activities of the Patriarchal Schools on the eastern bank of the Jordan River, after which the Patriarch presented their director, Odeh Kawas, with the Order of the Holy Sepulchre in recognition of his service. It was also decided to ordain Ivan Vladimirovich as a priest to serve the Russian Orthodox community in Haifa.

Concluding the meeting, the Patriarch and the bishops once again offered prayers for peace in the Holy Land and throughout the world, asking the Lord to strengthen Christians in their trials and enlighten the minds of rulers to become instruments of peace and reconciliation.
