A requiem mass was held at the memorial complex "The Unhealed Wound of Donbass" on the feast of Radonitsa. The service was performed by Archpriest Sergei Ladik, Chairman of the Department for Cooperation with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of the Lugansk Diocese, together with veterans of the special forces of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The participants of the prayer commemoration paid tribute to the memory of the fallen defenders of the Fatherland, as well as all civilians and innocently murdered Orthodox Christians, whose lives were claimed by the tragic events in Donbas.
The memorial complex was created on behalf of Vladimir Putin with the participation of the Russian Military Historical Society. It is located in the village of Vidnoye-1 on the outskirts of Luhansk, on the site of a mass grave that arose during the blockade of the city. Militia members and civilians who died during the fighting are buried here.
The memorial was opened on November 29, 2023 and has become a place of remembrance, sorrow and prayer, uniting people in an effort to preserve the historical truth and honor those who gave their lives for Faith and Fatherland.
