On 15 November 2025, a Divine Liturgy and prayer service for students was held at the Orthodox educational center dedicated to the Apostle Barnabas in the village of Nyabini, Central Kenya. The service was led by Archimandrite Sotirios (Matumbi) with the participation of parish priests Fr. Methodius Kariuki and Fr. Samson Gutu.
According to the African Exarchate’s website, over 300 students, their parents, local residents, and government representatives attended the event. Following the Liturgy, prayers were offered for teachers, missionaries, and benefactors supporting the center’s work. The celebration also featured student performances and a communal meal.
The Apostle Barnabas Center, operating under the parish of Saint Nektarios of Aegina, educates more than 200 children. During the summer of 2025, the center hosted a Youth Mission Week and an Orthodox camp, in which participants engaged in farming, missionary activities, and educational sessions. These programs reached approximately 800 people, with several dozen expressing a desire to embrace Orthodox Christianity.
The event highlighted the center’s ongoing role in nurturing both spiritual and educational growth among the youth in the region, emphasizing community involvement and the Orthodox faith.
