On April 20, 2025, on the feast of the Bright Resurrection of Christ, the chairman of the missionary department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, Priest George Maximov, celebrated a procession, Easter Matins and Divine Liturgy in the capital of Guinea, Conakry.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Guinea A.V. Popov, embassy staff and their family members, compatriots, as well as Lebanese Orthodox prayed at the service.
The Holy Scriptures were read in Church Slavonic and French.
Also on this day, the priest performed a water prayer and the consecration of Easter food.
Russian Russian Embassy School The day before, Father George spoke to teachers and students about Easter and the educational efforts of the Russian Orthodox Church on the African continent.
Sets of Orthodox literature were donated to the libraries of the embassy and the school, and believers were able to receive crosses and icons.
"Many thanked the Exarchate of Africa for sending a priest to the feast of Holy Easter and expressed hope for the continuation of spiritual care in this country, where there is no Orthodox church," Father George said.
On April 18, Great Friday, Priest George celebrated Matins with the rite of the burial of our Lord Jesus Christ, and on Holy Saturday he consecrated the building of the Russian Embassy in Guinea and confessed those who wished.
