From May 13 to 16, 2026, the VIII International Orthodox Children's and Youth Alexander Nevsky Choral Festival was held in the Yaroslavl Region.
The opening of the festival took place on May 13 at the Kazan Convent in Yaroslavl. A prayer service was held in the Kazan Cathedral of the monastery, after which the Yaroslavl Municipal Chamber Men's Choir conducted by chief conductor Alexei Kornev performed for the participants and guests.
Metropolitan Vadim of Yaroslavl and Rostov sent greetings to the organizers and participants of the festival. In his address, he noted that the festival takes place on bright Easter days and is intended to be a witness to the joy of the Risen Christ. His Eminence also stressed that the forum bears the name of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky, a great historical figure, commander and defender of the Fatherland.
The festival was attended by children's and youth choral groups from different regions of Russia, including Yaroslavl, Moscow, Kursk and Petrozavodsk. The young choristers performed spiritual, classical and folk music.
As part of the festival program, concerts were held in Rostov Veliky, Kalyazin, Myshkin and Uglich. An evening of sacred music was held in the Transfiguration Cathedral of Uglich.
The festival ended on May 16 with a gala concert in Pereslavl-Zalessky, at the Alexander Nevsky Gymnasium. The VIII International Orthodox Children's and Youth Choral Festival has once again united young performers around the traditions of spiritual singing, national culture and the memory of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky.
