On Bright Monday, April 21, 2025, in the village of Stanovtsy in the Chernivtsi region of Ukraine, OCU raiders seized the Archangel Michael Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was reported by the website of the Union of Orthodox Journalists, citing sources in the community of the seized church.
According to the parishioners, despite the position of the community, the authorities illegally re-registered the church in the OCU. A fake meeting was organized for this purpose. The rector of the parish, Archpriest Vyacheslav Gogol, stressed at the time that most of those who voted for joining the OCU did not go to church.
Having re-registration documents, the "activists", led by a schismatic "cleric" from another village, came to the Archangel Michael Church to "take their own". About two dozen men entered the church during the service and simply pushed the parishioners out into the street. At that time, there were mostly elderly women in the church, and they could not resist brute physical force.
The community is currently looking for a temporary place to worship.
