The statement notes that a criminal case was opened against a 22-year-old resident of the settlement under part 1 of Article 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. According to the investigation, on July 30, she painted the arch of the building adjacent to the Orthodox church on Lakhtinskaya Street in the Petrogradsky district.
An inscription appeared on the wall, insulting the feelings of believers. At the same time, it was done with the help of aerosol paint.
"Investigative actions are being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the crime committed, the issue of charging the suspect and choosing a preventive measure is being resolved," the department added.
It follows from the publication that the girl was detained on August 2.
According to the Fontanka newspaper, a resident of St. Petersburg wrote "Ayat 9:5" on the arch near the church. This is a reference to a verse in the holy book of Muslims, the Quran, which contains a call for the persecution of polytheists.
