Please accept my heartfelt congratulations to you all on the radiant feast day of the Nativity of Our Lord and God and Saviour Jesus Christ as I address you with the words of the ancient Christian hymn: “Christ is born, glorify him! Christ is come from heaven, receive him! Christ is on earth, be ye lifted up to him!” (Heirmos of the first Ode of the Nativity Canon).

After all, infirmity is a disease, incapacity; it is, as modern people would say, uncompetitiveness. At the heart of it we find the transformation and renewal of every human being, the light of life everlasting and the fount of constant joy. Christ’s Resurrection has vanquished the most terrible enemies of the human race, which are sin and death, it has torn down the barrier between God and people and delivered us from the power of evil.
