On the eve of the memory of the prophet of God Elijah, Metropolitan Filaret of Novokakhovsky and Genichesky, temporary governor of the Skadovsk diocese, led a festive all-night service at the Elijah Church in the city of Skadovsk. The Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission Assistance center operates at the church.
After the service, Vladyka Filaret talked with volunteers who had come to help the needy residents of the Kherson region from different regions of the country: Astrakhan, Cheboksary, Moscow, Krasnodar, St. Petersburg. During the meeting, the main directions of the Mission's activities in the territory of the Kherson region were discussed. Among them are the purchase and delivery of necessary humanitarian supplies, the work of a relief center, home care for people with limited mobility, support for patients in medical and social institutions, as well as the implementation of a rehabilitation program for people with alcohol and drug addiction. The Archpastor thanked the staff and volunteers for their selfless service to their neighbors, blessing them for further good deeds for the glory of the Holy Church.
The assistance Center of the Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission in Skadovsk has been operating with the support of the Skadovsk Diocese since January 2025. During this time, over 4,000 requests for help have been processed. 176 volunteers from different regions of the country took part in providing assistance to the needy residents of Skadovsk and other settlements of the Kherson region. The work is carried out in close cooperation with the Special Humanitarian Center of the Crimean Archdiocese.
The Patriarchal Humanitarian Mission was established by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church with the aim of coordinating and systematically developing humanitarian assistance to civilians in the Donetsk People's Republic, Luhansk People's Republic, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, as well as providing assistance to wounded servicemen.
