A humanitarian action has begun in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with the support of philanthropists from Russia. The aid is addressed to the faithful of the Russian Orthodox Church, who are faced with acute food shortages due to protracted conflicts and the difficult socio-economic situation in the region. Food and hygiene products were purchased for the wards. The dean of church districts in the country, Priest Nikolai Musoya, coordinates the distribution of aid.
On May 10, Father Nicholas Musoya celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the parish of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the village of Tenke (Lualaba province). At the end of the service, flour, rice, pasta, vegetable oil, salt and soap were distributed to those in need.
At the parish of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in the village of Uvira (South Kivu province), the rector of the parish, Priest Clement Mastaki, celebrated the Liturgy. After the service, the priest handed over food to the parishioners.
The humanitarian action will last for a month. In total, about 400 people in 9 cities and villages of the country will receive support.
