His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has sent birthday greetings to President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.
The message of the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church to the head of state reads: "By God's Providence, you have been leading our country for many years, consistently and effectively solving various tasks aimed at strengthening Russian statehood and economy, protecting traditional moral and family values, preserving historical, spiritual and cultural heritage, and ensuring a prosperous life for the people entrusted to your care. All this finds a lively response in the hearts of millions of fellow citizens who see in you a national leader setting an example of selfless and devoted service to the Fatherland."
His Holiness the Patriarch emphasized the high level of church-state relations in modern Russia and expressed sincere gratitude to the head of state "for his constant attention to the diverse activities of the Russian Orthodox Church."
"I hope that through the joint efforts of state authorities, religious and public associations, we will be able to continue to carry out many good initiatives that contribute to the unity of the people, strengthen Russia's sovereignty and its prosperity," the Primate added.
"On this momentous day, I offer up my prayers to the Lord for granting you unflagging strength and blessed success in your further labors, which you carry out with care and responsibility for the benefit of the country and fellow citizens," His Holiness Patriarch Kirill concluded.
