Due to the severe flooding in the Thai province of Ratchaburi and the evacuation of the population from the affected areas, the Foundation of the Orthodox Church in Thailand decided to provide the necessary assistance to people trapped in the disaster area.
Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin), Secretary of the Thai Diocese, called on the clergy and faithful to show Christian mercy and active care for people in distress, as well as to offer prayers for the victims, rescuers and volunteers.
In addition, the premises located on the territory of the Assumption Monastery in Ratchaburi province can be used for temporary accommodation of evacuated residents. In case of emergency, a monastery church can also be used to provide temporary shelter for the victims. Catering is provided, and people are provided with drinking water and basic necessities. Clergy, staff, parishioners and volunteers are invited to participate as much as possible in helping those in need, the website of the Thai Diocese reported on September 30, 2026.
Special attention will be paid to cooperation with local authorities and rescue services. Representatives of the Church were instructed to provide them with all possible assistance in carrying out evacuation and humanitarian measures.
