The IX expedition of Orthodox youth to the ancient temples of Tatarstan took place. This year, more than 30 volunteers from Kazan and other cities of Tatarstan took part in the labor trip within the framework of the Acquisition project. Like-minded people from Moscow and Petrozavodsk joined the Tatarstan volunteers.
The project participants provided assistance to the ancient church of the Kazan Saints in the village of Lyutkino. The volunteers carried out work on dismantling the cladding, dismantling and preserving the frescoes of the altar and central parts of the temple. Work was also carried out on the bell tower.
A master class on candle holder making was organized for the volunteers. At night, those who wished could look at the starry sky through a telescope.
On the days of commemoration of Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Duke Vladimir, St. Seraphim of Sarov and the prophet of God Elijah, Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the ancient church. The divine services were conducted by the rector of St. Sophia Church in Kazan, Archpriest Alexander Pavlov. The expedition members began the sacraments of Confession and Communion. The priest thanked the volunteers for their prayers and hard work.
"People specifically took vacations for this period, planned the trip in advance, and prepared for it. The efficiency is amazing! We managed to do a lot because the volunteers were motivated and committed to everyday work. We worked from morning to evening, prayed together, and talked. In the evening, they literally collapsed from fatigue, and in the morning they went back to work with gratitude and joy. These are the people! Many thanks to everyone who worked hard. All the participants showed a living example of love for God and for the Church of Christ," commented Archpriest Alexander Pavlov.
Anna Prozorova, the head of the Acquisition project, noted that many participants come to the expedition with their families.
It should be added that labor trips to Lyutkino are organized within the framework of the Lyutkino project. Wooden Heritage", implemented with the support of the Presidential Grants Fund.
