On the feast of the Icon of the Mother of God "The Healer", on October 1, 2026, Metropolitan Feognost of Kashira, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism, Vicar of the Don Stavropol Monastery in Moscow, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Alekseevsky Stavropol Convent in Moscow.
His Eminence was assisted by the clergy of the Alekseevsky Monastery.
Abbess of the monastery Abbess Xenia (Chernega) and the sisters of the monastery prayed at the Liturgy, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation A.Y. Kuznetsova, Commissioner for Children's Rights in Moscow O.V. Yaroslavskaya, chief physician of the Moscow Multidisciplinary Palliative Care Center S.A. Bondarev, parishioners and pilgrims.
Liturgical hymns were performed by the monastery choir. Archpriest Alexander Simakov, a cleric of the Alekseevskaya monastery, preached a sermon on the communion verse.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Theognost performed the rite of prayer singing for the healing of children with serious illnesses and their parents in front of the icon of the Mother of God "Healer". The text of the prayer service was approved by the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church. With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill on August 14, 2025, on the day of the celebration of the icon of the Mother of God, called the "Healer", special prayers are offered for the healing of children with serious illnesses and for their parents, with prayer services in all churches of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The prayer service was attended by disabled children who were brought from hospices in Moscow and the Moscow region.
