A spiritually significant event took place in correctional colony No. 8 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Kursk region — the icon of the Mother of God "Pryazhevskaya" was brought to the institution.
The prayer service in front of the icon was performed by the head of the diocesan department for prison ministry, Priest Dmitry Tatarenkov. During the Service, prayers were offered for the health and well-being of the staff of the institution, for giving them strength and wisdom in their difficult ministry, as well as for peace and correction of all those who are in prison.
For the staff of the colony, bringing the shrine became an opportunity to strengthen their faith and feel the prayerful intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos. All those present were able to worship the venerated image and anoint themselves with consecrated oil.
The staff of the colony expressed special gratitude to Abbot Pitirim and the brethren, thanks to whose assistance it became possible to bring the shrine to the correctional institution.
The interaction between the Church and the Federal Penitentiary Service is sustainable and is aimed at maintaining moral guidelines and spiritual support.
