On September 15, the city of Korsakov welcomed the ships of the Pacific Fleet, which arrived as part of the "Pacific Glory. The power lies in the truth." Together with the sailors, Sakhalin Island also met a shrine — the Port Arthur Icon of the Mother of God, which the landing ship "Oslyabya" brought from Primorye.
After the solemn meeting at the port, the image of the Mother of God was brought to the Pokrovsky Monastery. Prayer services and prayers were offered here in front of him throughout the day. Residents of the city and pilgrims from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk were able to worship the icon, ask the Mother of God for help and intercession.
On this day, the shrine was brought to the Voznesensky Korsakov Church.
It should be noted that the icon's stay in the temples of the city became a common opportunity for everyone to turn to the Most Holy Theotokos with hope, gratitude and a request for her maternal intercession.

The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
