On September 11, 2026, a press conference dedicated to the bringing of the right hand of St. Spyridon of Trimifunt to Moscow was held at the International Multimedia Press Center of MIA "Russia Today".
The shrine from the Greek island of Corfu will be located in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour from September 15 to 20. Moscow will become the final city of the Russian stage of bringing relics.
Bishop Siluan of Pavlovo-Posad, representatives of the Moscow Government, the Moscow Diocese and the Commission of the Russian Orthodox Church for the Development of Pilgrimage and the Sacrifice of Shrines took part in the press conference.
Bishop Silouan reminded that St. Spyridon is one of the most revered saints of God in Russia. Being a simple shepherd, he was called to the episcopal ministry, and became famous for his mercy, caring for those in need, and steadfastness in defending the Orthodox faith.
Answering the question of what the saint should pray for, Vladyka advised that we should address him with what constitutes "the deepest thirst of the heart." During his lifetime, Saint Spyridon helped people with family needs, illnesses, and financial difficulties, and believers continue to turn to him for prayerful help.
During the days of the shrine's stay in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the clergy of Moscow will regularly perform prayer services. Patriarchal volunteers will help the pilgrims while waiting and inside the temple. Priest Alexander Volkov called on the faithful to be patient, take prayer books with them and spend time in line in prayer and silence.
The Moscow government will provide assistance in ensuring security and public order, as well as organize medical and sanitary support for the pilgrims. There will be a hotline with the participation of priests, volunteers and psychologists.
As of September 9, more than 463,000 people worshiped St. Spyridon's right hand in nine Russian regions. After the completion of the Moscow stage, on September 21, the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the ark with the relics will be brought to Kazakhstan.
