On the evening of August 4, 2026, on the eve of the memorial day of the righteous soldier Theodore Ushakov, a host of bishops celebrated an all-night vigil at the Saransk Cathedral, consecrated in honor of the holy Admiral.
August 5 marked the 25th anniversary of the glorification of the righteous warrior Feodor Ushakov, the patron saint of Mordovia. In 2001, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, now His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, led the rite of glorification of the great naval commander.
The festive Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Cathedral of the Righteous Warrior Feodor Ushakov, the 20th anniversary of the consecration of which was also celebrated on this day.
Early in the morning, before the Divine Liturgy, an ark with the relics of the Holy Admiral was brought from the Sanaksar Monastery of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary to the cathedral. The shrine was delivered by admirals who participated in the canonization of the great naval commander 25 years ago: Admiral V.P. Valuev, commander of the Baltic Fleet of the Russian Navy in 2001-2006, and Admiral V.P. Komoyedov, commander of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Navy in 1998-2002. The ark was installed in the center of the temple.
The liturgy was led by Metropolitan Varsonofy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga, who was the ruling bishop of the Saransk Diocese from February 1991 to April 2014. 
Volunteers from the Union of Orthodox Youth of Mordovia provided assistance in organizing and conducting the festive service.
At the end of the service, Metropolitan Varsonofy addressed his fellow hierarchs and all those who prayed. The bishop recalled that the current year is rich in memorable dates for local church life: it marks the 35th anniversary of the founding of the Saransk Diocese, the 20th anniversary of the consecration of the cathedral and the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Mordovian Metropolia.
Metropolitan Varsonofy noted that, by the will of God, in 2014 he handed over the administration of the metropolis to Metropolitan Zinovy, who successfully continues the work of spiritual revival in the republic. The head of the St. Petersburg Archdiocese thanked the successor at the Mordovian department for his efforts - for decorating churches and opening a theological seminary, expressing the hope that in the future there will be even more students worthy of caring for the growing parishes of the diocese, and wished him strength, health and God's help in his ministry.
Metropolitan Varsonofy also shared his impressions of the trip to the parishes and monasteries of Mordovia, noting that he sees noticeable qualitative improvements everywhere. The bishop thanked all the priests for their efforts. In conclusion, he presented an icon of St. Alexander Nevsky as a gift from St. Petersburg.
In response, Metropolitan Zinovy thanked all the hierarchs, priests and laity present for having gathered on this day. Separate words of gratitude were expressed to the local priests, who honestly and diligently carry out their ministry, as well as to the entire Orthodox people of Mordovia. Vladyka Zinovy reminded that the righteous warrior Theodore Ushakov, the heavenly patron of the republic, still helps believers to go from victory to victory not only in spiritual life, but also in everyday earthly affairs.
In the cathedral, glorification was performed in front of the ark with the relics of the saint.
In prayerful memory of the festive divine service, its participants received images of the righteous warrior Feodor Ushakov.
At the end of the Liturgy, a procession was held to the monument to the Holy Admiral on the Cathedral Square of Saransk, where a prayer service was served and flowers were laid.
