Rom. 11:13-24; Mt. 11:27-30

Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” [Mt. 11:28]. O Thy divine, kindest and sweetest voice!  The Lord is calling us, let us all follow Him!  But first we ought to notice something which is hard and painful: that we have many sins, and that our sins are grave.

This notion will make us seek relief.  Faith will point at the Lord the only refuge, and we will follow Him as if instinctively.  Any soul willing to be saved from sins, knows for sure what to say to the Lord: “Take my heavy, sinful burden, and I will take Thy easy yoke” [Mt. 11:30].  And so it happens indeed: the Lord forgives our sins, and the soul begins to walk in His commandments.

The commandments are a yoke, and sins are also a burden, ─ but having compared them both, the soul feels that the yoke of the commandments is light as a feather while the burden of sins is heavy as a mountain.  So let us fearlessly take on His easy yoke and His light burden.  Thus, and only thus, we could “find rest unto our souls” [Mt. 11:29].
