On the feast of the Cathedral of Saints of the Chelyabinsk Metropolia, on October 11, a citywide procession was held in Chelyabinsk.
Prior to the start of the march at the Golden Mountain memorial, Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan celebrated a litiya for South Ural residents who were innocently killed during the years of repression. Laity and clergy rest in this place, including the Holy Martyr Vasily Nosov of the Chelyabinsk Metropolitan Area.
"Today we recall the tragic events that took place in the last century on our land. And we remember that people suffered and showed by these sufferings how deeply they believed in God. Because the main reason why they were humiliated, insulted, persecuted, tortured and inflicted great suffering on them was because they were believers. They understood that suffering, suffering, humiliation, insults, and even death for the sake of the Kingdom of God brought them eternal joy. Therefore, they stood very firmly in the faith and did not betray their faith. And today we want to honor this firmness of faith, to honor this sanctity of life that our ancestors showed in those years, and, of course, to enter into their work, so that by doing so the Lord would give us the strength to strengthen our faith, piety, purity and holiness, imitating our ancestors," Bishop Vikenty emphasized.
After the liturgy, the procession began from the Golden Mountain to the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ. The prayer procession was led by Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan, Metropolitan Peter of Orenburg and Saraktash, Metropolitan Evgeny of Yekaterinburg and Verkhoturye, Metropolitan Alexy of Chelyabinsk and Miass, Bishop Vladimir of Shadrinsk and Dalmatia, Bishop Zosima of Magnitogorsk and Verkhneuralsky, Bishop Pavel of Troitsk and Yuzhnouralsky, Bishop Meliton of Nizhny Tagil and Nevyansky, Bishop Zlatoust and Seraphim of Satka.
The march brought together numerous clergy of the Chelyabinsk Archdiocese, parishioners of South Ural churches, cadets of the Chelyabinsk Higher Military Aviation School of Navigators, public organizations, sports federations, and students of the Chelyabinsk Orthodox Gymnasium.
With prayers, the faithful walked about two kilometers to the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ, where the Divine Liturgy began. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chelyabinsk region, 20,000 people took part in the march.
