The publishing house of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra has published a book by Abbot Simeon (Gavrilchik), a resident of the monastery, "The August Child of St. Sergius. Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich Romanov and the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra.
The book is dedicated to the outstanding statesman of the Russian Empire at the end of the XIX — beginning of the XX century, Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich Romanov (1857-1905), the uncle of the passion-bearer Emperor Nicholas II, the spouse of the Holy Martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna. A pupil of St. Filaret of Moscow, a widely educated and deeply religious man, Sergei Alexandrovich served as Moscow Governor-General, was a member of the State Council, and commanded the Moscow Military District.
From his earliest years, the life of the Grand Duke was directly connected with the Trinity-Sergius Lavra and its founder, St. Sergius of Radonezh.
The publication continues the previously started theme "The Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra and members of the Imperial family." It uses rare archival documents and materials that make it possible to expand the understanding of the personality of the Grand Duke.
