The parishes of the churches of the Orel diocese continue their charitable and volunteer activities aimed at supporting the military personnel of the combat zone of the special military operation.
3 televisions, 2 computers and 2 laptops were handed over to the special forces in the Kharkov direction from the Orel diocese.
Earlier, the Orel diocese repeatedly refused assistance to this unit.
The Holy Dormition Monastery of the city of Oryol, represented by the acting vicar of the monastery, Abbot Tikhon (Gladkikh), the parish of the Assumption (Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk) Cathedral of the city of Oryol and the parish of the Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Recovery of the Dead", represented by the rector, Priest Artemy Toropov, took an active part in acquiring what was necessary for the fighters.

The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

By the decision of His Holiness Patriarch Pimen and the Holy Synod of March 3, 1976, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad Theological Academy and Seminary, was elected Bishop of Vyborg, vicar of the Leningrad Diocese.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
