On the territory of the parish of the Church of the Ascension of the Lord at the Nikitsky Gate on September 28, 2024, Secretary of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia for the city of Moscow, dean of the Central District, rector of the Church of the Ascension of the Lord ("Great Ascension") Protopresbyter Vladimir Divakov consecrated a monument to Patriarch Tikhon (Bellavin) of Moscow and All Russia at the Nikitsky Gate. It was in this church that St. Tikhon celebrated his last Liturgy in 1925.
The author of the monument is the Russian sculptor E. Bezborodova. The memorial was opened with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia in honor of the centenary of the repose and the 160th anniversary of the birth of St. Tikhon.
His Holiness Patriarch Tikhon was glorified in the face of saints by the Russian Orthodox Church in 1989, the year of the 400th anniversary of the establishment of the Patriarchate in Russia. One of the thrones of the Great Ascension Church was consecrated in his honor.
