On October 27, 2026, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow visited the Central Clinical Hospital of St. Alexy, Metropolitan of Moscow, in Moscow. The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church heads the Board of Trustees of the hospital.
His Holiness was accompanied by Bishop Alexy of Ramenskoye, His Holiness' personal secretary.
The Primate was met by: A.N. Plutnitsky, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, member of the Board of Trustees of St. Alexy's Hospital; A.Y. Zarov, Chief Physician of St. Alexy's Hospital; Archpriest Sergiy Klyaev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of St. Alexy's Hospital; A.I. Semenov, Head of the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and his entourage proceeded to Building No. 4, where they examined the offices and wards of the renovated and reconstructed Department of Traumatology, Orthopedics and Medical Rehabilitation.
The renovated building houses an operating unit, intensive care beds, a hospital and rooms for medical rehabilitation, physiotherapy, shock wave therapy, physical therapy and mechanotherapy. Now they will be able to provide a full cycle of treatment — from surgical interventions to full recovery. Patients from all regions of Russia will receive high-tech treatment in the department. One of the important areas remains assistance to people injured during the fighting.: Modern mine explosion injury is, as a rule, multiple and combined injuries that require long-term treatment and rehabilitation. St. Alexy's Hospital has accumulated a lot of experience in this area, as since the beginning of 2022, the clinic has been providing assistance to the injured and injured during their treatment. During this time, more than 55,000 people have received treatment in various fields and nursing care. Prosthetics centers for amputees have been opened in Zhukovsky and Gorlovka (DPR) near Moscow. A.Y. Zarov explained to His Holiness about the work of the new department.
Then His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and his entourage moved to Building No. 3, where the polyclinic is located. In the lobby of the polyclinic, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill got acquainted with the exhibition "Under Patriarchal Care", which the hospital staff had prepared for the 80th anniversary of His Holiness. The exhibition tells about the Primate's role in the development of the hospital's activities. The work of the medical institution is carried out with the blessing and with the direct participation of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
"His Holiness the Patriarch is directly involved in the life of the hospital, all our work is carried out under his care. For example, most of the equipment he saw in the new building today was purchased thanks to a tradition he introduced 10 years ago. Moscow parishes do not buy bouquets for big holidays, but allocate targeted funds for good deeds. It is important for us that more people know how much His Holiness Patriarch Kirill is doing. Our team has lovingly prepared this exhibition for the anniversary of His Holiness," said A.Y. Zarov, Chief Physician of St. Alexy's Hospital.
After viewing the exhibition, His Holiness was greeted by staff and nurses of the hospital, as well as sisters from the sisterhood of the Holy Martyr Apollinaria Tupitsina from Leninsk-Kuznetsky and Kemerovo, who are undergoing internships at the hospital. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill donated an icon of St. Luke of Crimea to the hospital.
"Thank you, my dears! — said the Primate, greeting the sisters. — I am very grateful to you for this song, for many years, and, most importantly, for your hard work. What you are doing is of great importance for the life of our Church, and, I am sure, for the church formation of those people who still know little and understand what it means to be a true Christian who is able to help others. Therefore, in a sense, you are on the front line of this most wonderful front in the struggle for human souls. God help you!"
On behalf of the hospital staff, A.Y. Zarov and M.S. Andriaka, Deputy Director of the Sergei Andriaka School of Watercolor, presented His Holiness with a painting depicting the Patriarch's visit to St. Alexy's Hospital, painted by artist Sofia Andriaka, acting rector of the Sergei Andriaka Academy of Watercolor and Fine Arts.
