On September 6, 2025, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije consecrated the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Pakrac and led a festive Divine Liturgy, as reported by the Serbian Church's website. This cathedral, the seat of the Slavonian Diocese, endured destruction and looting during World War II and was nearly completely destroyed in 1991-1992 when it was mined and burned along with its iconostasis and interior furnishings. Restoration work began in 2003 and has now culminated in this solemn consecration ceremony.

The Patriarch was joined by bishops from the Serbian Orthodox Church and brother Orthodox Churches, including those from Jerusalem, Greece, and the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia. Representatives from overseas dioceses of the Serbian Orthodox Church also participated, adding to the event's significance for the entire Church.

In his sermon, Patriarch Porfirije emphasized that the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Pakrac is a church that testifies not only to the crucifixion but also to the resurrection. "Although it was destroyed to the ground, today it stands again as a sign that the Lord is the Master of history and that He is love," said the head of the Serbian Church, expressing the hope that believers would always gather here in love, understanding, and prayer.

To mark the restoration of the cathedral, Bishop Jovan of Slavonia presented awards and certificates to deserving individuals and institutions that contributed to the restoration of the holy site. Among the honorees were Patriarch Porfirije himself, as well as deceased and living hierarchs, clergy, theologians, and public figures whose efforts and support made this celebration possible.

Following the liturgy, the renovated Library of the Slavonian Diocese was opened in the Episcopal Palace. This unique collection of manuscripts and printed books dates back to the time of Bishop Nikanor (Grujić). It houses the second most significant collection of early Serbian printed books in the world, as well as collections from the 18th to 20th centuries, which have survived despite wars and confiscations.
