On August 17, 2026, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Constantine of Cairo and North Africa, consecrated the foundation stone of the future church in honor of St. John the Baptist and Holy Martyr Alexander (Parashnikov) in the Baringo district (Lugara deanery) in Kenya.
The chairman of the missionary department of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, Priest Georgy Maximov, the dean of the district, rector of the parish, Priest Peter Lutomiya, and parishioners prayed during the service.
Prior to this, Bishop Konstantin consecrated a water well, which corresponds to the funds of the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage and donations from the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, collected through the official website of the Exarchate.
The bishop greeted the audience and pronounced an archpastoral address. Then Father George preached to the parishioners. On behalf of the community, Vladyka Konstantin was presented with a goat.
The Patriarchal Exarch then visited the parish of St. Paul in Marakusa, where he consecrated a school built with the support of the Russian Orthodox Church. Parishioners and students of the school prayed during the service.
The clergy of the Lugary district were presented with motorcycles, which Vladyka also consecrated, and cows from benefactors from Russia. The faithful, in turn, presented the bishop with a goat.
On the same day, Bishop Konstantin held a general pastoral meeting, which was attended by all the clergy of the deanery, as well as students of theological schools in Russia who had returned home for the holidays. During the conversation, issues related to the activities of parishes and the development of church life in Kenya were discussed.
