On October 29, 2026, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, spoke at a panel session of the economic and humanitarian forum of the third Russia—Africa summit. The summit was held on October 28-29 at the Gostiny Dvor Moscow Exhibition Center.
The session was devoted to the theme "Russia and Africa: spiritual sovereignty, traditional values and educational interaction." The discussion was moderated by Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), Secretary for Inter-Christian Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations.
Metropolitan Konstantin spoke about the development of the Russian Orthodox Church's presence on the African continent, paying special attention to the educational and social activities of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa. His Eminence expressed hope for the further development of the church's mission and noted with pastoral attention the peculiarities and traditions of the peoples of Africa.
Representatives of the scientific community, government agencies and religious organizations also took part in the discussion: K.V. Babaev, Director of the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, E.V. Eremin, Head of the relevant Department of the Presidential Administration for Domestic Policy, M.M. Melekh, Special Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, A.R. Krganov, head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia, and the President of the Christian Union the world" by A.A. Cherkezov.
The meeting was attended by Bishop Euthymius of Lukhovitsky, Vicar of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa, Priest Georgy Maksimov, Chairman of the missionary department of the Exarchate, deans of church districts and parishes in Africa, as well as members of the delegation and proteges of the exarchate studying in Russia.
