A conference was held in Crimea dedicated to the support and rehabilitation of military personnel — helping those who, having gone through trials, especially need care, understanding and spiritual support.

The conference was led by Archpriest Konstantin Tatarintsev, First Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department for Cooperation with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of the Russian Orthodox Church, and representatives of the Ministry of Defense.

The conference brought together the clergy of the Simferopol and Feodosiya dioceses of the Crimean Metropolis, who spiritually care for military units, serve in hospitals and participate in the rehabilitation of military personnel.

This service is based on attention to the fate of each person, willingness to listen and support in difficult times. Helping military personnel and their loved ones to find support, maintain hope and return to a peaceful life is an important task that requires joint efforts, patience and care.

March 14, 2026 marks the 50th anniversary of the episcopal consecration of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill. This is not merely a personal jubilee, but a date of profound significance for the fullness of the Church as a whole, because episcopal consecration is the moment of assuming a special responsibility for the people of God and a witness to the Church’s fidelity to apostolic succession. The calling of the future Primate to episcopal ministry was formally established by a resolution of the Holy Synod in early March 1976; on the eve of the consecration, the rite of nomination took place, and on March 14—on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy—at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad theological schools, was consecrated Bishop of Vyborg.

By the decision of His Holiness Patriarch Pimen and the Holy Synod of March 3, 1976, Archimandrite Kirill (Gundyaev), rector of the Leningrad Theological Academy and Seminary, was elected Bishop of Vyborg, vicar of the Leningrad Diocese.

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 13, 1976, at the Church of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian at the Leningrad Theological Academy, the rite of nomination took place; and on the following day, March 14, the First Sunday of Great Lent, the Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, during the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in Leningrad, the episcopal consecration of Archimandrite Kirill — the future Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ — was performed. The service was presided over by the ever-memorable Metropolitan Nikodim (Rotov), whom His Holiness Patriarch Kirill calls his spiritual mentor and teacher.
