On September 10, 2025, a celebration took place at the Church of St. Sophia – the Wisdom of God in Warsaw, honoring the memory of St. Job of Pochaev, the heavenly patron of the Warsaw-Belz Diocese. The Divine Liturgy was led by Archbishop Gregory of Belz, with Bishops Paul and Varsonofy in attendance, alongside Metropolitan Savva, the head of the Polish Orthodox Church, as reported by the Polish Church's website.
Addressing the faithful after the service, the metropolitan emphasized the significance of a spiritual patron in the life of every Christian: "The heavenly patron accompanies us at every stage of life, protects us from dangers, and helps us overcome the temptations of evil. This is why the Orthodox Church underscores the importance of a patron saint for each believer."
Metropolitan Savva paid special attention to the theme of unity, highlighting that divisions and schisms—whether in personal life, family, or within the Church—arise when individuals cease to listen to God and rely solely on their own will. "True unity is not the result of compromise, but the fruit of prayer, humility, and fidelity to the Gospel," the archpastor noted.
He urged the clergy and laity to daily turn to St. Job of Pochaev in prayer, to strengthen their faith, and to uphold Orthodox traditions. "We live in difficult times, but with Christ, we are strong, for He is always with us," the head of the Church emphasized, adding that St. Job serves as an example of complete devotion to God and faithfulness to Christ until the end.
