On June 4, 2026, in Kremenchuk (Poltava region of Ukraine), the Trinity Church of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was seized by supporters of the schismatic OCU structure with the support of law enforcement agencies.
According to the Union of Orthodox Journalists, according to established practice, the seizure was preceded by a fake "meeting" on the issue of transition to the "OCU", to which the real community of the temple was not even invited. The Trinity Church was built by the forces of the community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in 2000 and has nothing to do with the schismatic structure of the OCU. Nevertheless, based on the decision of this "assembly", the authorities illegally re-registered the community.
According to the Information and Educational Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, a large number of police officers were present at the scene during the forcible seizure.
Parishioners and priests tried to defend their shrine, but the forces were unequal. According to the Suspilne resource, several clergymen of the canonical Church suffered from the actions of the raiders, they needed medical help. "They beat me up, tore my cassock, pulled on me with abusive words, with threats that they would kill me anyway, pulled on my hair," said one of the victims, Archimandrite Joseph.
Representatives of the parish community stressed that they would continue to fight for their shrine in the courts, but they placed their main hope only in God.
