With the support of the Presidential Grants Fund, a sewing workshop will open on June 11, 2026, on the basis of the public-church rehabilitation center "Warm Welcome". The project will help homeless people find jobs, earn income and restore social ties.
"We found out that the most effective option for women's labor rehabilitation is sewing," said Ilya Kuskov, director of Warm Welcome. — That's why we decided to train our girls in this profession. The grant funds were used to purchase equipment and everything necessary. A new profession will give girls a chance to find a job. After all, our main task is to return a homeless person to a normal life in society."
The training is designed primarily for women, but if desired, men will also be able to complete the course. Five sewing machines and an overlock (a device for processing fabric edges) were purchased for the workshop. The students will be taught how to sew a variety of products: from bed linen and tracksuits to underwear, pajamas, shoppers and textile packaging. The classes will be taught by a fashion designer. Thanks to the workshop, the shelter will be provided with its own textile products, and the wards will be able to sell their products on marketplaces and earn their own income.
"Warm Welcome" is a social and church project to help homeless people in the Moscow region, which has been operating since 2017. Over the years, 1,755 people have been helped here. Of these, 449 people found jobs, 251 were sent home, and 49 received prosthetics.
At the same time, the shelter can accommodate up to 70 people in difficult situations, including people with disabilities. They are provided with temporary housing and five meals a day. The staff of the shelter helps the wards to restore documents, solve social issues, find a job, as well as receive the necessary treatment and medical care. Reception of the homeless is carried out through a mobile service, a mercy bus and street social organizations.
