On September 4, 2026, the stay of the right hand of St. Spyridon of Trimifunt on the Smolensk land ended. The funeral of the ark with the right hand of St. Spyridon, Bishop of Trimifunt, took place in the Assumption Cathedral in Smolensk.
The prayer service in front of the ark with the shrine was led by Metropolitan Isidore of Smolensk and Dorogobuzhsky. His Eminence was co-served by members of the Greek delegation in holy orders: clergymen of the Kerkyra Metropolis of the Greek Orthodox Church, Archimandrite Andreas (Gkiokas) and Archpriest Ioannis Salvanos; clerics of the Smolensk Diocese, Secretary of the Smolensk Diocesan Administration, rector of the cathedral, Priest Vladislav Bagan, clerics of the Assumption Cathedral and other churches in Smolensk. 
The liturgical hymns were performed by the singers of the bishop's choir (regent Elena Frolova).
The Minister of the Smolensk Region for Internal Policy, P.Yu. Mukhin, was present at the temple.
Parishioners of churches in Smolensk and the Smolensk region, cadets of the Military Order of Kutuzov of the Military Air Defense Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation named after Marshal of the Soviet Union A.M. Vasilevsky, and pilgrims from various regions of Russia and Belarus prayed at the service.
At the end of the prayer service, the clergy and faithful escorted the ark with the right hand of St. Spyridon from the Assumption Cathedral.
Before the departure of the shrine, Archimandrite Andreas (Gkiokas), Archpriest Ioannis Salvanos and Bishop Isidore alternately blessed all those who accompanied the shrine with the ark with the right hand of St. Spyridon.
Next, the ark with the right hand of St. Spyridon will be delivered to the Irkutsk Archdiocese, where it will remain on September 5-6.
During the stay of St. Spyridon's relics in the Assumption Cathedral in Smolensk, about 20,350 believers from the Smolensk, Bryansk, Oryol regions, Velikiye Luki, Pskov region, Orsha and Vitebsk cities of the Republic of Belarus managed to worship the shrine.
The shrine will remain in Russia until September 20: September 5-6 — Irkutsk, September 7-9 — Khabarovsk, September 10-11 — Chelyabinsk, September 12-13 — Yekaterinburg, September 13-14 — Vladimir, September 15-20 — Moscow.
