On September 1 and 3, 2026, on the 22nd anniversary of the tragic events at Beslan School No. 1, Archbishop Gerasim of Vladikavkaz and Alan celebrated divine services at the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Beslan and in the gymnasium of School No. 1, at the site of the mass deaths of hostages.
At the end of the divine service, the ruling bishop addressed the audience with an archpastoral address.
Hundreds of people came to the walls of the Beslan school to honor the memory of the victims. Head of the Republic of North Ossetia — Alania Sergey Menyailo, member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Taimuraz Mamsurov, Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania Taimuraz Tuskaev, Chairman of the Government of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania Boris Dzhanaev, heads of republican ministries and departments, deputies of the Republican Parliament, representatives of the public, guests of North Ossetia laid flowers at the foot of the memorial cross in the center of the gym.
Archbishop Gerasim celebrated a requiem mass for the victims in the gymnasium of School No. 1, at the site of the mass deaths of the hostages.
On September 3, Archbishop Gerasim celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the gymnasium of School No. 1 in Beslan.
During the Liturgy, prayers were offered for the repose of those killed in the terrorist attack, as well as soldiers of the Alpha and Vimpel special units, who, according to the Savior's commandment, laid down "their souls for their friends" (John 15:13). Residents of Beslan, Vladikavkaz, other cities and villages of the republic, relatives of the victims and former hostages gathered for the archpastoral service. Many of those present received communion of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
At the end of the service, Archbishop Gerasim addressed the faithful.
In the afternoon, Archbishop Gerasim, the clergy of the diocese and the faithful sang the funeral "Trisagion" in a procession from the courtyard of school No. 1 to the memorial cemetery "City of Angels", where the ruling bishop led the funeral liturgy at the monument "Tree of Sorrow". By this time, thousands of Ossetians and guests from various regions of the Russian Federation had gathered here.

According to the established mournful tradition, the names of all those killed in those tragic days were read out under the blows of the metronome, after which the schoolchildren released 334 white balloons into the sky — according to the number of victims of the terrorist attack. Then flowers were laid at the graves of the dead, as well as at the Tree of Sorrow monument and the monument to special forces soldiers who gave their lives to save the hostages. The clergy of the Vladikavkaz diocese laid their wreath at the "Tree of Sorrow".
Then Archbishop Gerasim celebrated a requiem mass at the monument to the fallen soldiers of the special forces.
