With the blessing of Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssk, Chairman of the Synodal Department for Interaction with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies, Priest Alexander Palaznik, head of the sector of the Synodal Department for Interaction with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies, organized a series of optional lectures on the basics of Orthodox culture for employees of the Main Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
The educational course is designed for a full academic year. On October 20, 2026, the first meeting was held, bringing together 28 officers and representatives of the civilian staff of the department. The educational project is being implemented in close collaboration with the Moscow Theological Academy, whose teaching staff is involved in lectures and seminars.
During the annual program, military investigators will get acquainted with the basics of the Orthodox faith, the history of state-church relations and the Christian understanding of justice. Based on the Holy Scriptures and patristic tradition, the teachers of the academy will reveal the categories of guilt, punishment, repentance and justice in their direct connection with the professional ethics of the investigator.
Serving as a military investigator is fraught with enormous internal stress and requires a crystal-clear conscience. Facing the consequences of crimes and human injustice on a daily basis, a justice officer is called upon to maintain peace of mind, impartiality, and a watchful heart. Studying the spiritual origins of Russian culture strengthens the moral guidelines of the department's staff, reminding them that earthly justice gains lasting strength when it is based on the immutable commandments of the Creator and serves the triumph of truth in the Fatherland.
