The exhibition "Armor of Faith" opened in Simferopol Academic Gymnasium on October 22. It is based on icons painted on bulletproof vest plates, which protected military personnel from bullets and shrapnel during a special military operation.
The images were created by students of two Moscow educational institutions — the Sergei Andriyaki Academy of Watercolor and Fine Arts and the V. I. Surikov Moscow State Academic Art Institute. Working with metal required the development of a special writing technique. The plates have preserved traces of bullet hits and shrapnel, which have become part of the artistic idea.
The exhibition was organized by the Women of Taurida Foundation. The project is dedicated to the defenders of the Fatherland and combines the themes of historical memory, faith and the value of human life.
The opening ceremony was attended by Vladimir Terentyev, head of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, Archpriest Nikolai Samborsky, who participates in humanitarian trips to Donbass, Yulia Shugaley, representative of the regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and Alexander Goncharov, Deputy Commander for Political Work of the 176th Communications Brigade.
For high school students, the exhibition became an introduction to an art project in which items of military equipment received a new purpose — they became the basis for sacred images.
