On the feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos, at the end of the Liturgy in the church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God of the city of Tobyl, on August 28, 2026, a traditional procession was held to the mass grave site of the clergy, monastics and laity who were repressed and shot in 1937-38, located near the village of Novoselovka.
The procession, which took place with the blessing of Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, interim administrator of the Kostanay and Rudn Diocese, was attended by the Acting Secretary of the Kostanay Diocese, Hieromonk Gennady (Burdyuzha), diocesan clergy and numerous believers.
Upon arrival at the burial place of those who suffered for the faith of Christ, Hieromonk Gennady (Burdyuzha) celebrated a requiem mass for political prisoners and those repressed in the twentieth century.
Rector of the Church of the Kazan Mother of God in the village of Zatobolsk, Priest Andrey Krutin, spoke about the history of the repressions of 1937-1938, thanked the faithful for the feat of prayer and noted the importance of remembering those who suffered for their faith.
